FAQs
How much is membership and how much does it cost to play?
Membership is currently £50 P/A, with a £10 match fee for Saturday games or £2 midweek. Every two years, your membership fee comes with a free club playing shirt.

Do you have training sessions?
Yes. We will commence winter training in January and then continue outdoors once the season begins.

How do I transfer from my current club to Newby Hall?
It's simple. Get in touch with us and let your current club know that you'd like to move. Our club secretary will sort the rest!

How good do I need to be to play?
We are looking for players of all abilities. We want to recruit first XI players to strengthen our squad depth and progress into higher divisions of the Nidderdale League - but we also want to recruit people for our second XI. There's room for everyone!

What positions are you looking for?
All types of player. Batsmen, bowlers and wicket keepers. We want to improve the all round quality and depth of our squad - not just individual positions.

How often would I get to play?
We'll pick our first XI based on the strongest available team, but fielding a second XI in 2025 enables us to rotate the squad more fairly. The selection committee goes out of their way to ensure that everyone gets their fair share of cricket over the course of the season.

I don't play cricket, can I still join the club?
One of the best things about Newby Hall CC is that we are a club, not just a team. We have an on site bar and regular social events throughout the year, and welcome anyone that wants to be a part of the club in whatever manner they'd prefer.

How old do I have to be to play senior cricket?
Juniors need to be in year 8 and 12 years old on the 1st of September in the preceding year.

Do you have junior teams?
We are launching All Stars cricket in 2025 and are looking at offering competitive cricket to older age groups. If this is something that would interest you, please get in touch!

Can ladies/girls play?
Of course! We typically pick our strongest first XI every week, with fairer rotation in the second XI to give everyone as much cricket as possible. As long as you meet the age criteria mentioned above, anyone is welcome regardless of social category!
